What is a water purifier?

A good water purifier is one that filters out impurities ranging from sediments to micro organisms like viruses and bacteria and dispenses clean water retaining the essential vitamins and minerals. There are a host of water purifiers that are available in the market. Water purifiers should not be confused with water filters which are not able to get rid of bacteria and viruses that might be present in the water.
The most commonly used filtration systems by leading water purifiers are RO (Reverse Osmosis) filters and UV (Ultra Violet) filters.
What are the different types of water purifiers?
Most of the purifier brands use one of the following methods for water purification:
  • RO filters: RO system offers a multi-stage filtration of water by combining active carbon and particle filtration.
  • UV filters: In this process, UV light is passed on water to kill bacteria and other microbes by attacking the DNA in cells. These filters remove pesticides by up to 99%.
